The most important thing for Pilgrims of St Francis is the route, the way. It symbolises their route through life. Their spirituality is, therefore, a spirituality of the route. Pilgrim groups are not just prayer groups nor are they groups of people wanting to have a good holiday together.
During pilgrimages the Companions recharge their batteries so that after the pilgrimage they can try to live in their daily lives the values of the route. In the steps of St Francis the Companions follow faithfully the gospel of Christ and pilgrimages help to develop and increase the spirit of hospitality, friendship, peace, living simply, adventure, sense of humour, being open to others, love of nature, tolerance, humility, service to others, kindness and grace.
