3. Pilgrimages

National Pilgrimage 2017 Whitchurch to Shrewsbury 26 Aug - 2 Sept

This year we explored the countryside just north of Shrewsbury in Shropshire.

We started at Whitchurch - the most ancient settled town in Shropshire and continued via the Shropshire canal, the Llangollen canal and the Shropshire way to Shrewsbury where we ended with a Eucharist at the 11th C. abbey, a shrine to St Wynefrid but made even more famous recently by the books about the fictional Brother Cadfael.

As we walked we explored our annual theme ;Joy’ and finished with a party to celebrate our fifty years of existence as ’The Pilgrims of St Francis’
